Stilian Kirov, guest conductor

The newly-appointed Music Director of the Illinois Philharmonic, Stilian Kirov is a First Prize winner of the Debut Berlin Concert Competition (2017), and is also a recipient of numerous awards, including a prize in the Malko Competition and an Emmy for the Memphis Symphony’s Soundtrack Project. Recognized as an enthusiastic educator and community leader, Kirov is Associate Conductor of the Seattle Symphony and of the Memphis Symphony. He occupied the podium of many important orchestras in Europe and participated in masterclasses with distinguished conductors as Kurt Masur and Michael Tilson Thomas. Kirov studied at the Aspen Academy of Conducting, and in 2013, was one of two Conducting Fellows at the Tanglewood Music Center. He holds a master's degree in conducting from the École Normale de Musique in Paris, where he studied with Dominique Rouits. Kirov is also Music Director of the Bakersfield Symphony in California and New Jersey’s Symphony in C.

Steven Osborne is one of Britain’s most notable musicians, awarded with The Royal Philharmonic Society Instrumentalist of the Year in 2013 and recipient of two Gramophone Awards for recordings of Britten’s works for piano and orchestra and of solo pieces by Prokofiev and Mussorgsky. Osborne has performed with some of the world’s major orchestras, including recent visits to the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and the Salzburg Mozarteum. He regularly works with the London Philharmonic, BBC Symphony, BBC Philharmonic and other important British orchestras. Since 1998, Osborne has released 25 albums for Hyperion Records, accumulating numerous awards and spanning a wide range of repertoire, which includes Beethoven, Schubert, Debussy, Ravel, Liszt and Stravinsky. Recently, he has been teaching as Visiting Professor at the Royal Academy of Music.
