Flutes

Alexandre began his musical studies in 1986 at the State Conservatory of Varginha, his hometown in Minas Gerais’ countryside. He has graduated in Flute from Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) under Professor Artur Andrés and also participated in masterclasses conducted by Norton Morozowicz, Odette Ernest Dias, Pauxy Nunes, Mauricio Freire, Nicola Mazzanti and Jean-Louis Beaumadier among others.

 

Winner of the 10th and 11th editions of Young Soloists Contest of UFMG and the 1st Young Musician Contest of BDMG, Alexandre has also received honorable mention in 1st Young Soloist Contest of Bahia Symphony Orchestra. In 2003, he was the winner of the 4th Bianca Bianchi Chamber Music Contest and of the project Música para a Comunidade [Music for the Community] in the city of Belo Horizonte, as a member of the flute and guitar duo Faria-Braga.

 

Alexandre has performed as a soloist for the Bahia Symphonic Orchestra, Symphonic of UFMG, Experimental of Federal University of Ouro Preto (Ufop), Sesiminas, Chamber Orchestra of Itaúna. He has also been First Flute and Piccolo Solo of Experimental Orchestra of Ufop and flutist and piccolist of Minas Gerais Symphony. He has taught Flute and Music Theory at State Conservatory of Varginha. Since 2005, he’s been a Flute teacher at Artistic Training Center (Cefar) in Clóvis Salgado Foundation.
