Rodrigo Bustamante

First Violins

Before joining the Minas Gerais Philharmonic in 2012, Rodrigo served as concertmaster and soloist of Theatro São Pedro Chamber Orchestra between 2005 and 2010. He has also worked with Porto Alegre Symphony, New Symphony Eastman, Eastman Virtuosi and Chamber Orchestra of Ulbra, among others. He has collaborated as an instrumentalist and arranger with several artists and symphonic groups in the Brazilian music scene. His piece Flausiniana, based on Flausino Vale’s Prelúdios para Violino Só, was recorded and premiered by the violinist Emmanuelle Baldini and the Mato Grosso State Symphony Orchestra.

 

Rodrigo is an intensively active chamber musician, having appeared in performances alongside Offenburger Streichtrio and the Canadian violinist Guillaume Tardif. He has received the Azoreans Award for Best Chamber Group and nominated for Best Instrumentalist for his performance in the album Musitrio – Kinematic. With Libertas Quartet, he has been performing regularly in the most traditional venues in Belo Horizonte and the interior of Minas Gerais.

 

The musician has graduated in Violin from Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in Marcello Guerchfeld’s class and obtained his Master’s degree in Violin Performance and Literature from Eastman School of Music in the United States, in the class of Ilya Kaler and Mitchell Stern. He has also studied with Jerrold Rubenstein at Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp in Belgium.
