Jonatas began his studies at São Paulo Municipal School of Music (Emesp) and graduated in Clarinet from the São Paulo State University (Unesp), under Sergio Burgani. He has also participated in masterclasses with Wenzel Fuchs, Christoph Muller, Michael Gurfinkel, Ovanir Buosi and Cristiano Alves. In 2012, he got first place in TV Cultura’s contest Pré-Estreia, Chamber Music category, performing with Nó na Madeira Quartet. With this same group, he appeared as soloist with Tom Jobim Youth Orchestra, performing works by Léa Freire with arrangements by Luca Raele. The musician also won the 2010 and 2011 editions of Young Soloists contest of Guarulhos Youth Symphony Orchestra. Jonatas is a member of the Minas Gerais Philharmonic since 2013.
