Cássia holds a bachelor’s degree in Flute from the São Paulo State University (Unesp), a Master’s degree, and an Artist Diploma from the Mannes College of Music in New York. In her formation years, she studied with João Dias Carrasqueira, Grace Busch, Jean-Nöel Saghaard, Marcos Kiehl e Keith Underwood. She has appeared in major festivals in Brazil and won many competitions, such as the Young Flutist National Contest, Young Soloist of Orquestra Experimental de Repertório (both in Brazil), Mannes Concerto Competition and Gregory Award (both in the USA). In chamber music, Cássia is a seasoned musician. She currently is a member of the Minas Gerais Philharmonic Woodwind Quintet and some other groups in Belo Horizonte. Once a fellow of the Tanglewood Music Center, the flutist performed with renowned conductors such as James Levine, Kurt Masur, Seiji Ozawa and Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos. In Minneapolis, she has been a member of the Minnesota Orchestra, conducted by Charles Dutoit. Back in Brazil, Cássia was Principal Flute and soloist of the São Paulo State Symohony (Osesp), same position that she holds since 2009 in the Minas Gerais Philharmonic.
