Alexandre Silva

Clarinets

Alexandre began his studies at Sociedade Musical Euterpina Juvenil Nazarena in his hometown of Nazaré da Mata, Pernambuco. He has received a Master’s degree con lode in Musical Performance under Professor François Benda from the Conservatory of Italian Switzerland, where he’s also attended the Master of Arts course in Specialized Music Performance. Alexandre is a Bachelor of Arts from Minas Gerais Federal University (UFMG), having graduated in Professor Mauricio Loureiro’s class.

 

He participated in masterclasses with Cristiano Alves, Luís Afonso Montanha, Alessandro Carbonare, Karl Leister, Walter Seyfarth, Jonathan Cohler, Denis Zanchetta, Michael Collins and Johannes Peitz. With the Orchestra of the Conservatory of Italian Switzerland, he was a soloist in Concerto No. 2 by Bernhard Crusell and Concerto No. 2 by Ludwig Spohr, debuting the latter in Brazil as the winner of the UFMG Young Soloists contest.

 

Alexandre has worked with conductors Kurt Masur, Ronald Zollmann, Lü Jia, Giorgio Bernasconi, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Wolf-Dieter Hauschild and Isabelle Ruf-Weber. He was member of the contemporary music ensemble 900 at the Conservatory of Italian Switzerland and in 2010 he was a fellow of both Williamson Foundation for Music and Familien-Vontobel-Stiftung.
